Harris Tweed and Imitation Homespun

    The definition of this term is " cloth, the wool of which was hand spun and woven on hand looms at home." They are coarse fabrics of tweed character, and made in the villages of the Scottish Highlands and Ireland. The yarns are usually hill wools, about 14 to 18 ends and picks per inch, 2 & 2 twill weave. The yams are irregular and coarse (see Harris Tweed and Imitation Homespun)
